Visit to the Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre of Mongolia

On 16 October 2024, the Ambassador of Italy, Ms. Giovanna Piccarreta, participated in the visit organized by the Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia, H.E.  Ina Marciulionyte and UNDP Resident Representative Ms Matilda Dimovska, together with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Shen Mingjuan to the Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre of Mongolia on the occasion of the International Day for Eradication of Poverty.

The visit aimed at meeting students with disabilities and learn about the common challenges and issues that persons with disabilities face in Mongolia, in terms of education, employment and life in general. The meeting also intended to receive feedback from students and graduates of the Centre that are beneficiaries of the project supported by the European Union and UNDP.  The Centre provides persons with disabilities with essential skills, rehabilitation services and employment support.

Ambassador Giovanna Piccarreta highlighted the importance of the first ever G7 Ministerial meeting, organized by the Italian G7 Presidency, devoted to inclusion and disability issues, taking place these very days in Umbria. The G7 meeting, chaired by H.E. the Minister for Disabilities, Ms Alessandra Locatelli, will end today with the adoption of the Solfagnano Charter, inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities www.g7disabilityinclusion.it
