Trade relations between Italy and Mongolia in 2023 recorded a trade volume of 189.0 million dollars, marking a notable increase of 21% compared to the final figure of 2022. Italian exports to Mongolia reached a record value of 90.1 million dollars (+32% compared to 2022), positioning Italy as the 11th supplier to Mongolia. The exports to Mongolia consist primarily of machinery, clothing, furniture, footwear, and food products. Italian imports from Mongolia amounted to 98.9 million dollars (+12% compared to 2022). Italy is the 6th most important importer from Mongolia*.
The main Mongolian products imported into Italy in 2023 were:
- Live animals and animal products: 62.1 million euros (76.6% of total imports from Mongolia).
- Precious base metals and other non-ferrous metals; nuclear fuels: 9.1 million euros (11.2%).
- Basic chemicals, fertilizers, nitrogen compounds, primary forms of plastics, and synthetic rubber: 4.0 million euros (4.9%).
- Prepared and preserved meat and meat products: 2.9 million euros (3.6%).
- Clothing articles, excluding fur clothing: 1.7 million euros (2.2%).
- Yarns of textile fibers: 0.5 million euros (0.6%).
- Other: 0.7 million euros.
