Italian Sports Day 2026 in collaboration with the United States and Mongolia.
Opened with institutional greetings from Ambassador Giovanna Piccarreta and the President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee, Mr. Battushig Batbold, the webinar organized by the Embassy of Italy in Mongolia to mark Italian Sports Day focused on Olympic values, sports diplomacy, and the role of football. The event concluded with remarks by the U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia, Richard Buangan, looking ahead to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Italy and the U.S. virtually passed the baton from the MilanoCortina2026 Winter Games to the LosAangeles2028 Summer Games.
The webinar featured contributions from the Head Coach of the Mongolian National Football Team (Italian Marco Ragini), who spoke about nurturing young talent and the growth prospects for football in Mongolia; Mongolian cyclist Jambaljamts Sainbayar — fresh off his splendid bronze medal at the Asian Games — and Alberto Zatta (Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mongolia), who highlighted the synergies between sports, innovation, and business, including sports infrastructure and the role of the private sector in this field.
