On March 21, 2025, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi, co-chaired in Ulaanbaatar the Fourth Mechanism of Political Consultations with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Lkhanaajav Munkhtushig, and the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Battsetseg Batmunkh.
During the meetings, the growing integration between the Italian and Mongolian economies was highlighted, recently exemplified by the signing in Rome of the first air transport agreement between the two countries. This agreement, strongly supported by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, paves the way for the establishment of direct flights between Italy and Mongolia, facilitating commercial and tourist exchanges.
Furthermore, the parties discussed investment opportunities offered by the European Global Gateway strategy and the importance of strengthening contacts between Italian entrepreneurs and Mongolian SME, the backbone of the Asian country’s economy. In this regard, the organization of a business forum in the near future was proposed.
On the sidelines of the consultations, Undersecretary Maria Tripodi met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, Dorjkhand Togmid, with whom she had a fruitful exchange on the main topics addressed during the day, further strengthening bilateral relations between Italy and Mongolia.
